Integrated Marcom Minute

Are you naughty or nice when it comes to email marketing? Here's an integrated marcom tip that lets you integrate a holiday theme into a B2B campaign and ensure that you're a "nice" email marketer.
Send a permission update to your email list as a holiday greeting. And since you’re probably busy with end of year stuff, I’ve made it easy for you. Just use the following sample as your template. It’s my holiday gift to you...

Sample Holiday Permission Mailer
Subject:[Your company or newsletter name] Have we been naughty or nice?

Dear Subscriber,
It’s that time when we reflect back over the past year. And in a sea of naughty email marketers, we want to be the nice ones. So just to make absolutely certain that we respect your permission, we’re asking for just two minutes of your time for a quick permission update.

And as a small token of our appreciation, you’ll receive a special gift.

Just click here to renew/update and in just two minutes, claim your gift. That’s it! That’s all you have to do to continue...[“receiving my tips on getting more from your marketing.” This is where you’ll add the value of the information you provide your list.].

Again, thank you for the privilege of your permission. We wish you and your family a safe, happy holiday and prosperous New Year!

Happy holidays,
[your name]

PS Remember... it only takes two minutes. So please click here to renew and update your subscription today!

Integrating an interesting gift idea into your mailer
Here's just a sampling of gifts you can include in your permission emailer:

  • Offer a complimentary article or white paper. In fact, here's my gift to you -- a complimentary copy of "Podcasting Demystified: How to generate leads and boost conversions with podcasts." Click here to get your copy.
  • Everyone enjoys interesting animated greeting cards. Why not include a link to a personalized animated greeting card that you designed yourself or one that's readily available like this one. And if it's really creative, you know how quickly it'll get passed around the internet.
  • You may also want to offer a Starbucks gift card. Everyone loves a good cup of tea or coffee, so you can't go wrong with this holiday classic. Visit Starbucks' corporate gift giving service.
  • Here's something a little less traditional... a free holiday tune download from iTunes or other music download service. Visit Apple iTunes for more information.
  • And if you're really feeling avant-garde, create a holiday podcast complete with a classic holiday tune. (We talked about podcasts last time... click here to read last month's issue.)

A little permission goes a long way toward making sure that you're a "nice" marketer. And holiday time is the perfect time to reconnect with your list. Now that's integrated marcom!
